Tehran - The death of Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022 after being detained by Iranian police sparked unprecedented protests.
To commemorate the first anniversary of his death, thousands of people across the country took to the streets to demonstrate, quoted from the BBC page, Sunday (17/9/2023).
In Iran, Amini's father, Amjad, was detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and warned not to commemorate his daughter's death.

Iran's IRNA news agency denied this and later reported that security forces had thwarted an attempt to assassinate Amjad Amini.
Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that family members of people killed in protests sparked by Amini's death had also been arrested or threatened.
